2017-2018 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
At Davis Drive Elementary School, parent and community volunteers are an integral part of our school’s success! We have many opportunities throughout the year, so please indicate below the area(s) in which you have an interest in helping. This does not commit
you, but you will be contacted to help when you can. Thank you for your support of our school!

Volunteers Needed

Description

Basic Aid training

Help train our fourth graders on basic aid techniques. You work as part of a team and training is provided.

Book Fair

Help with the annual Scholastic Book Fair in November. Volunteers will help plan, advertize, setup and staff the Book Fair.

 

Books and Beyond

Volunteer with a First grade classroom to log students reading sheets.  This involves a 20-30 minute weekly commitment at school, specific days and times are flexible.

 

Copying

Help with copying student worksheets as per teacher requests.

 

Davey’s Green Team

Help with recycling the snack bags and juice pouches. This is done once a week on afternoons/evenings.  This committee helps fund green initiatives with the funds made from recycling efforts.

 

Dolphin Depot

Assist with school supply sales from 7:10am until 7:40am on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

 

Fundraising

Assist in planning and executing fundraising activities.  We need members to help come up with great ideas!

 

General Assistance

We will contact you throughout the year to help with various PTA events.  

 

Health and Wellness

Assist with our annual Health and Wellness fair.

 

Spring Family Fun Night

Assist in planning our brand new family fun Night to be held in March.

 

Media Center Helper

Assist Media center with shelving books.

 

Room Parent

Sign up for your child’s classroom to help coordinate classroom events with the teacher. You will be in charge of communicating school events and classroom needs.

 

School Beautification


Help keep DDE beautiful!  No gardening experience required, just a love of the outdoors and a desire to help keep the flower beds weeded and trees trimmed!

 

Teacher Appreciation

Organize or provide supplies for Staff Appreciation lunches throughout year and be a part of making Teacher Appreciation Week a success.

 

Tutoring

Tutor one or more students on Math or English/Language Arts. This is 30 minute commitment every week.  Must occur during school hours.

WCPSS VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION

Anyone who wishes to volunteer at Davis Drive Elementary must register with WCPSS as a volunteer. 

Registration must be updated each school year and must be done on a computer in the media center at DDE. All volunteer requests will be processed in the order of registration. 

All volunteers must be cleared through Wake County’s volunteer registration. If you plan to participate in an: 
    • Activity that may require direct contact with students on or off campus with no or limited supervision
    • Activity that may require access to confidential information
    • Activity that potentially involves solitary time with students
    • Activity that may take place outside the view of school staff for brief or extended periods
    • Activity that may involve driving students in a personal vehicle
    • Activity that may take place with supervision or in a public setting
    • Activity that may involve little or no student contact and no solitary time with students

How to register:You must register on the campus of any Wake County Public School System School. The registration is located on the school’s intranet. .
